YOUR DATA · YOUR CONTROL

Privacy policy

This policy explains how BetterMe, operated by EMBIRO TECHNOLOGIES (U) LIMITED, handles personal information when you use our mobile application, website, support, and related services.

Effective 4 August 2026 · Version 1.0

1. Who we are

BetterMe is a personal planning, challenge-tracking, and fitness application operated by EMBIRO TECHNOLOGIES (U) LIMITED (“Embiro”, “we”, “us”). The app identifier is com.embiro.betterme. Questions can be sent to hello@embiro.com.

2. Information we handle

Account and profile

We handle your email address, Google identity information when you choose Google sign-in, display name, timezone, goals, training experience, equipment, swimming baseline, workout availability, and health or movement restrictions you enter.

Calendar information

With your permission, we read the calendars you select, including event titles, times, recurrence, organisers, attendees and responses, descriptions, locations, meeting links, visibility, and status. We store normalized copies needed to show a combined calendar and produce plans. Google refresh tokens are encrypted on the server and are never sent to the mobile app or AI.

Challenge, workout, and progress information

We handle daily rule evidence, completion history, water and reading logs, workout prescriptions and logs, gym sets, swim intervals, pain and fatigue input, reviews, measurements, notes, schedules, and change history.

Device health information

If you grant access, BetterMe processes fitness and recovery information from Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect. This may include steps, active and basal energy, distance, exercise minutes, workout summaries, heart-rate summaries, resting heart rate, sleep summaries, weight, body-fat percentage, and VO₂ max. Raw health samples stay on your device and are processed only in memory. We upload only daily aggregates, workout summaries, source information, completeness, confidence, and sync timestamps.

Photos and generated media

Progress photos you choose to capture or upload are stored privately. They are not sent to AI. Exercise-guide images may be generated by AI, moderated, cached privately, and labelled as illustrative.

Device and service information

We handle push notification tokens, notification preferences, sync status, app version, operating system, and bounded diagnostic information. Diagnostics exclude private calendar and health payloads.

3. How we use information

  • Provide authentication, onboarding, calendar views, challenge tracking, workouts, progress insights, reminders, offline sync, exports, and account controls.
  • Generate and validate schedules and workouts, explain recommendations, and adapt training within safety limits.
  • Sync BetterMe-created blocks to your dedicated BetterMe Google calendar.
  • Secure, diagnose, maintain, and improve the service; prevent misuse; and meet legal obligations.

We do not use health information for advertising. We do not sell personal information.

4. Google user data

BetterMe’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Source calendar events are read-only. BetterMe writes only to the dedicated BetterMe calendar associated with the write account you select.

5. AI and automated planning

Calendar context and health context are controlled by separate consent choices. When enabled, AI may receive selected calendar details, challenge rules, aggregate health trends, workout history, goals, and user-entered constraints. It does not receive Google OAuth tokens, Supabase credentials, raw heart-rate or sleep samples, or progress photos. Proposed schedule changes pass deterministic checks before BetterMe-owned blocks can be applied. BetterMe does not diagnose medical conditions.

6. When information is shared

We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, to comply with law, or with your direction. Service providers may include Supabase for authentication, database, private storage and server functions; Google for identity and calendar services; Apple or Google for device-health frameworks and distribution; Expo for app build and notification infrastructure; and configured AI infrastructure for consented features. Providers are permitted to process data only for the service they supply. We may also disclose information when legally required or to protect users, Embiro, or the public.

7. Security and storage

We use access controls, row-level security, encryption in transit, encrypted server-side Google refresh tokens, private object storage, short-lived signed media access, secure device credential storage, and audit records. No system can guarantee absolute security. Data may be processed in countries where our providers operate, subject to appropriate safeguards and applicable law.

8. Retention and deletion

We keep account information while your account is active and as needed to provide BetterMe. Disconnecting a Google account revokes its grant where possible, destroys the stored token, and purges its cached events. Disconnecting device health stops sync and lets you delete cloud health aggregates without changing records in Apple Health or Health Connect.

Deleting your BetterMe account removes the authentication account, user-owned database records, private progress photos and generated guides, calendar connections, stored health aggregates, and AI outputs. It does not delete source Google events or health records stored on your device. Limited records may be retained only when required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

9. Your choices and rights

In BetterMe Settings, you can manage calendar connections, health permissions, notifications, AI consent, photo consent, data export, and permanent account deletion. You can also revoke platform permissions in iOS, Android, or your Google Account. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, portability, restriction, objection, or deletion by contacting us.

See the account deletion page for in-app and web request instructions.

10. Children

BetterMe is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as BetterMe changes. We will update the effective date and provide notice when a change materially affects your rights. Contact hello@embiro.com with privacy questions or requests.
